A Brief Look At The Damaging Result Of Obesity by Brian Kernan
Way back in the early 80s, the Concept 2 rowing workout machines made their introduction to the world. The company that manufactures the Concept 2 rowers has headquarters in Vermont where the winters are very cold with a great deal of snow. The primary idea is to make it possible to practice, or train, indoors if the rivers were all frozen and iced over. From the start, this company set out to take advantage of the best engineering and technology available in their rowers. I have the unique view to write about this since I have been using a Concept 2 for almost 10 years. This article will review this special and versatile rower for those who are toying with the idea of buying one to enjoy.
There are two rowing machine models available, the Model D and E. The Model E is delivered just as you see it, but the Model D has an option of performance monitor. The performance monitors are named, PM3 or PM4, and they accompany each rower. The PM3 is a standard feature on the Model D with a choice to upgrade to the PM4. The Model E rowing machine comes with the PM4 performance monitor as standard equipment. The Model D has the lowest price of $900 and higher price with the better monitor.
What is really helpful during exercising is you can use the performance monitors to watch your heart rate while exercising. There is an enclosed pulse rate sensor that is placed across your chest, and there is a strap that holds it in place. You may think the sensor will be noticeable and be uncomfortable, but but it’s quite the opposite. As soon as you begin rowing your mind will not even notice you’ve got a monitor strapped across your chest. This is also a wireless device, so that means no wires are going to be hanging off of you.
The Concept 2 design utlizes a flywheel assembly that you will use to produce the resistance and simulate rowing. The flywheel is confined in a suitably designed housing for safety reasons. You will be able to change the resistance for harder or easier rowing. When you are rowing you will hear the seat travel backward and forward, the chain movement and the whir of wind from the flywheel, and the noise level is very low. During rowing operations, the fan-like flywheel emits a quiet sound, and you can feel the air movement at certain angles. However, I can share that after many years of use that the movement of the flywheel does not create any distractions at all. You could put this rowing exercise machine in just about any room and be able to use it without disrupting anyone who is sleeping.
You can track your rowing speed, plus other information, from the PM3 or PM4 performance monitors. There are sufficient data types to satisfy the needs of either competition level rowers or someone who wants a great workout. Your particular needs will help you in determining what You Want to keep track of and what is not so essential. For example, if you are a competitive rower, you will most likely keep your eye on different stats from other competitive rowers.
